Representative Ammons Honored in Washington D.C.
Representative Carol Ammons was awarded the Women Legislators’ Lobby Pacesetters award on Monday, Oct. 2 at the annual Women’s Action for New Direction “Women at the Tables of Power” conference in Washington D.C.
As one of the ten legislators to receive the award, Rep. Ammons said, “I’m honored to be awarded as a Pacesetter. I will continue to serve my district and ensure that the voices of women of all races and stations in life are fully and fairly represented at the policy table.”
The Women Legislators’ Lobby (WiLL) is a national nonpartisan network of women state legislators who work together to influence federal policy and budget priorities. WiLL Pacesetters are women state legislators whom WiLL has recognized as leaders and visionaries after seeing their noteworthy legislative service, their contributions to sound, progressive policy, and their groundbreaking leadership in the states.
Continuing her legislative service, Rep. Ammons has also been appointed to the Sexual Assault Evidence Tracking and Reporting Commission. This commission is charged with research, development, creation, and implementation of a statewide mechanism to track and report sexual assault evidence information.
Along with that commission, Rep. Ammons will also serve on the Mahomet Aquifer Protection Task Force to address the issue of maintaining the clean drinking water of the Mahomet Aquifer.
